Exclusive Memory Chapter 8 Part 3

Suddenly, I panicked and wanted to find a place to hide. But it's not right to bite the bullet and continue walking this time, and it's too late to retreat. If I ran back, I might be able to make it in time, but what about the suitcase, it can't be thrown here. Putting it here alone is a bit like a tool for terrorist activities.

On the right side of the path is a small ditch, you can't jump down, not to mention that even if I jump down, I will be found. On the left are bushes as tall as a man. My mind was thinking quickly, and finally I made up my mind to drag my luggage and jump into the flowers, hiding behind the bushes.

Fortunately, the two of them walked slowly like strolling in the courtyard.

After I took my place, I paced slowly step by step.

"Is your mother in good health recently?" the man asked again.

Mu Chenghe said, "It's okay."

I squatted behind Evergreen, watching the road nervously through the gaps in the grass blades.

"Last month, I went to city B for a meeting and met your mother. Her mouth is still as powerful as when she was young. Because of you, I 'm afraid to see her now."

"What?" Mu Chenghe asked.

"What am I talking about? You must know better than me." The man said with a smile: "Xiao Mu, I'm 27 this year. I was already married when I was your age. If you have someone you like, take her back to your mother to take a look, otherwise she will blame us for delaying you in scientific research."

I don't know if Mu Chenghe is smiling, but he didn't answer.

I heard the sound of their conversation fading away, I wanted to stand up to confirm, but I didn't dare to move forward rashly, so I had to say to myself: Wait a little longer, wait a little longer.

Unexpectedly, while waiting, another footsteps came from afar. I carefully identified it, and it was a single person. This person finally stopped near me, and then stopped in front of the Evergreen I was hiding in.

I stared at the shoes, a little suspicious, and felt very familiar, as if I had just seen them. When I thought about it, my face turned white.

Then, the owner of the shoes said condescendingly: "Xue Tong, what are you squatting here for?"

I raised my face quickly, and after meeting Mu Chenghe's gaze, I stood up abruptly, and said falteringly: "I...I..." For a while, my brain short-circuited, and I wished I could throw a smoke bomb like a Japanese ninja and disappear on the spot.

"Are you looking for something?" Mu Chenghe asked with the corners of his mouth raised.

"Looking for a cell phone?"

"Yeah." I agreed.

"Where is it?" He tilted his head and asked me.

"It is..." Before I finished speaking, I suddenly realized that the phone was not in my hand, and I subconsciously touched the pocket of the down jacket, but it was also empty. In a blink of an eye, I remembered to call Liu Qi, and put it back in the backpack.

With a guilty conscience, I changed my mind and said, "It is...put in the back of the bag."

Mu Chenghe smiled when he heard the words, narrowed his eyes, and then gave a meaningful "oh", the corners of his lips curved deeper.

I just realized now, did he set me up? Make up a lie for me first, and then let me automatically reveal the truth. Looking at his smiling eyes, I am more convinced of my conclusion.

This person actually tricked me again!

So, I quickly changed my mournful look to him back.

He stood outside, and I stood inside, with a half-height evergreen in between. At this time, I saw his eyes fall on my face, and then he took a step forward.

I stared at him a little suspiciously.

Unexpectedly, he suddenly raised his left hand and stretched it out towards me.

My heart sped up.

Seeing that the fingertips are getting closer and closer to me.

One foot, half a foot, one inch, half an inch...

Just before touching me, I subconsciously tilted my head. It was such a tiny angle that avoided the fingers of his left hand, causing them to stop awkwardly in the air.

In an instant, I saw that something seemed to flash rapidly in Mu Chenghe's eyes.

It was a very strange look.

It passed so fast, I didn't have the chance and time to figure it out.

So much so that later I thought, I am such a thick-skinned person, will I never understand some things.

A moment later, the smile returned to his face.

He withdrew his hand and asked me: "Are you going to stand inside and continue trampling the flowers and plants in our school?"

I said "ah!" and jumped out quickly.

"What are you doing here?"

"I... I... wait for someone."

"On vacation?"

"Yeah." I said, "Just pack up some things that I don't need for next semester and take them home."

"Find a job?"

"Not-yet." I said a little dejectedly.

"How do you plan to spend your winter vacation?"

"Mom asked me to go to her next week and celebrate the New Year with her."

"Oh," he said, "I'll be out of town too."

The conversation seems to have come to an end here.

In order to break the silence, I took the initiative to ask, "Are you busy with work?"

"It's not bad."

"Don't be too picky." I said suddenly.

"?" He didn't understand what I was referring to.

"I overheard you talking just now."

He smiled helplessly.

"Your mother is in a hurry, has she asked you to go on blind dates?" I wanted to tease him.

"That's not true. She knows that I have no intention of this."

"Why?" I was surprised.

The smile on his face gradually faded, and then he said lightly, "Life aspirations."

The topic stops here.

We stood facing each other and fell into an awkward silence again.

"Xiaotong."

Liu Qi called me and rushed from the other end.

"Hey—" I answered him cheerfully. I don't know how, there was a feeling of liberation in my heart.

Seeing Mu Chenghe beside me, Liu Qi respectfully said, "Teacher Mu."

Mu Chenghe nodded with a smile, and then said that he had to leave earlier.

Afterwards, Liu Qi lifted the suitcase out of the bushes for me, and couldn't help asking me, "How did you let it get in there?"

"The first thing I thought about was that if you didn't come to pick me up, I'll hide it inside and wait for you to come and get it at night."

"No way, you really think so."

"Of course." I said, lifting my chin.

Talking to Liu Qi was completely different from being in front of that person. Even if it's a lie, it's that simple. But Mu Chenghe was different, any concealment on my surface seemed superfluous in his eyes.

"Xue Tong." Liu Qi's voice pulled back my wandering thoughts.

" Huh?"

He gestured to my forehead.

I followed his gaze, touched the bangs on my forehead, and then touched the foreign object hanging from my hair. I took it down and saw it was a leaf.

Small, dark green, evergreen leaves.

The edge of the tip of the leaf is slightly yellowed, so it is a little curled.

It turned out that he just wanted to remove it for me just now.

I feel that Mu Chenghe has a feeling of awe and fascination for me.

It's just that, from now on, I don't need it anymore.
